Welcome to SoCal AMPS

This is the SoCal Chapter of AMPS - The Armor Modeling and Preservation Society. The Armor Modeling and Preservation Society, Inc., or AMPS, was founded in 1993. Although AMPS’s main function is as a modeling club, it is definitely a different type of modeling organization compared to IPMS or other mainstream groups. AMPS has a Constitution and Bylaws to govern how it is run and the AMPS judging system rewards individual effort using a point system to minimize subjectivity. The purpose of AMPS is to foster a knowledge and appreciation of the history of armored vehicles, through examination of preserved examples located in both museums and private collections, in miniature through modeling. To this end, AMPS publishes a 32-page journal called Boresight six times a year. This journal covers reviews, tips, articles on preserved vehicles, and comparisons of models and related items. AMPS membership entitles you to product discounts from some of the most innovative products in our hobby. AMPS also hosts an international convention every spring in which the subject of armor is supreme. The convention features the best armor model vendors, seminars from armor experts and an excellent example of the best armor models from around the world in its competition. Competition is organized into five levels - junior, basic, intermediate, advanced and master - and the judging system rewards the modeler for his individual effort, not in comparison to other modelers. If you like to build armor models, we’d love to have you as a member.

SOCAL AMPS MODEL KIT CLUB FUNDRAISER:
Our 3/8/25 live meeting will be our annual SOCAL AMPS MODEL KIT AUCTION CLUB FUNDRAISER.

This will be our ONLY club fundraiser this year, which makes your donations more important this year than in previous years.

We are looking for model hobby item donations from our members: model kits, aftermarket stuff, tools, materials, books, magazines, etc.
Although our club interest is mainly armor, we’ll accept any donations: aircraft, ships, automotive, sci-fi, etc.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to fund club activities: club contest awards (and we have a lot of them this year!), pizza and soft drink meeting dinner breaks, special dinners at some of our Brookhurst Hobby meetings, sponsoring local model contest awards, etc.

Please donate whatever you can to support OUR club.
Remember that one man’s model hobby trash can be another person’s model hobby treasure, or just what they needed for a certain model project.

We assume all donated items auction are complete.
If any of your donated items are not complete please attach a note identifying it as an incomplete item so perspective buyers will be aware of the status prior to bidding.

If you cannot make the meeting you can drop off your donations prior to the meeting our meeting location, Brookhurst Hobbies.

Remember to bring cash and, thanks to Brookhurst Hobbies, we will be able to take credit cards for this sale
.
Thank you to all for your continued support to OUR club.
