Special Programing Note: Due to a scheduling conflict with relatives Eva Olech will not be able to make the meeting. Our planned Thank You to her for donating her husband’s model hobby collection will be rescheduled, probably to our December meeting. So no need to bring any of the collection models that you bought and have since finished as we previously requested for this meeting.
Special Note: Please park behind Brookhurst Hobbies so we don’t take up all of the available front customer parking spots during our meeting.

Although the contests may be related to live meetings, Zoom meetings, or online social media activities,
you are encouraged to post your model projects status on our SoCal AMPS online social media sites listed below..
If you cannot post to any of the sites email your photos to Kevin Hjermstadt or Robert Yeatman and they will post them for you.

(3) Tamiya Out of the Box Armor Contest-1/35th and 1/48th scale
This is a SoCal AMPS live meeting contest.
Completed models are due at the 10/8/22 meeting at Brookhurst Hobbies.
Any 1:35 or 1:48 scale Tamiya armor kit except Dragon Wagons, FAMOs and Tamiya special limited edition armor kits with special photo etch and/or resin parts.
Kits must be made totally OUT OF THE BOX-no additions or replacement parts or decals.
Common sense OUT OF THE BOX rules apply, you can drill out gun barrels, thin existing parts, etc. but that’s it.
The Contest is sponsored by Tamiya.
The Contest judges will be Tamiya employees using whatever judging criteria they choose to apply.
Award prizes will be provided by Tamiya.
NOTE: You must provide the kit instructions with your completed model to participate in this contest.
The kit instructions may be used to verify Out of the Box status.
(4) 4 Hour Model Build Contest-Any Subject
This is a SoCal AMPS live meeting contest. Models will be built and judged during the meeting.
Contest awards will be Brookhurst Hobbies gift certificates provided by SoCal AMPS.

(5) Shelf Queen II Model Contest-any subject, any scale
This is a SoCal AMPS social media online contest.
Completed models are due 11/30/22.
Since participation in this contest has been lacking, we have re-opened this contest to encourage new/additional participation.
The new rules are simple:
(1) Post photos of the current state of your Shelf Queen model BEFORE you start to finish it.
(2) Finish the model. You have the option to post additional in-process build photos.
(3) Post photos of the finished model.
(4) You can enter as many Shelf Queen models as you want. There is no limit to the amount of entries per participant for this contest.
The goal is to encourage the completion of as many Shelf Queen models among our club members as possible.
There are 2 ways to win:

Completed Shelf Queen models will be awarded points based on what Stage of the build process they originally were in when entered in the Contest:
The most points, based on the points awarded for all of each contestant’s COMPLETED models, wins.

(6) Russian Heavy Tanks 1930-1980—any variant, any scale
This is a SoCal AMPS online social media contest.
Completed models are due 1/31/23.
Contest Awards will be Brookhurst Hobbies gift certificates provided by SoCal AMPS:

You must use a non-started kit for this contest.
Group Build: M113 Family of Vehicles-1/35th scale:
The goal is to complete over 100 models for the Group Build Display category at an upcoming IPMS Nationals Show.
Completed models are due TBD since the earliest time that the next IPMS Nationals will return to a western regional location is 2024.
You are encouraged to post your project status on the SoCal AMPS online social media sites.
The 2 M113 Group Build Status Reports, one a Name Sort and the other a Vehicle Sort, were updated and attached to the 6/11/22 meeting notice.
Please check out what everyone is planning (so far) to build and try not to duplicate models based on same camouflage and markings.
Please email me your updates:
-adds, deletes or changes to what you plan to build (vehicle/country/camouflage colors/markings)
-status on what you are currently building (planned/started/completed)

The club is currently conducting a Group Buy of M113 models through Brookhurst Hobbies.
A list of available kits and their discounted prices was included in the 3/12/22 SoCal AMPS Meeting Notice email.
